Parent Workshops

Maria Sanders provides a Six-Week Problem Solving Parent Class for parents to learn how to assist children with difficult-to-manage behaviors in a new way!  The Collaborative Problem Solving® approach is an evidence-based method to managing challenging behavior that promotes the understanding that challenging kids lack the skill - not the will - to behave; specifically, skills related to problem-solving, flexibility, and frustration tolerance.

Unlike traditional models of discipline, the CPS approach avoids the use of power, control, and motivational procedures and instead focuses on collaborating with the child/ youth/ young adult to solve the problems leading to challenging behavior and building the skills they need to succeed.

Collaborative Problem Solving®(CPS) offers a new way to understand and help ALL children, regardless of a diagnosis, especially those with difficult-to-manage behaviors, which usually come with a diagnosis. CPS is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, inclusive, best-practice approach that will help give you insight into what might be getting in the way for those with behavioral challenges, while you learn how to teach the lagging skills.

Maria Sanders’ professional experiences combined with extensive education on the social-emotional, trauma-informed, inclusive approach, give her a unique perspective and insight into the challenges faced by helping complex children.
